Why this move matters

Organize taught you to assign by hand, on purpose, because the judgment you build about your own numbers is the real skill. Targets do not replace that judgment, they bank it. Once a category knows what it needs, Vondo can tell you how far it still is and fill the gap on your say-so. You keep every decision, you just stop making the same one twelve times a year.

Do it in Vondo

1. On the Budget screen, tap a category to open its detail panel, then choose Set target. Pick the target type, a set amount each month, or a total to reach by a date that Vondo spreads across the months between, and enter the number.

2. Watch a new colour appear: amber. From now on a category’s Available reads amber when it is funded but still under its target. This colour did not exist in the core lessons because it cannot: it only shows up once a target does.

3. Read amber correctly, because it is a nudge, not a problem. Red means you spent money you did not have. Amber means you have not finished filling this one yet. Nothing is wrong, nothing is overspent, the category simply is not up to its number. Confusing amber with red makes people "fix" a category that is fine.

4. Open Quick-fill from the Unassigned card, rather than typing each amount. It offers a few strategies for how to assign; the one that fills your targets is Underfunded, which covers any overspending and tops up every category still below its target.

5. Review before it applies. Vondo shows exactly what it will assign and where, here it brings Vacation up to its target, with the Total to assign at the bottom. Nothing changes until you choose Confirm, and it never assigns more than Unassigned is holding, if there is not enough it tells you which lower-priority categories get reduced or skipped.

What you should see now

Every category with a target says what it still needs, amber marks the ones not yet full, and one Quick-fill tops them all up to your plan. The monthly pass that used to be twenty small decisions is now a glance and a confirm, and the decisions were still yours.
