Why this move matters

Money without a purpose drifts, and drifting money is how a whole paycheck disappears with nothing to show for it. In Organize you decide, up front, what each dollar is for: the bills, the groceries, the savings, the goal. You do it by hand, one category at a time, because the judgment you build about your own numbers is the skill the whole method rests on. When every dollar has a purpose, spending stops being a guess and starts being a decision you already made.

Do it in Vondo

First, set up your categories

1. On the Budget screen, create a group for each part of your life that money flows to: Bills, Everyday, Goals. A group is a folder that keeps related categories together so the whole list stays easy to scan. If you picked a starter set when you signed up, you will already see some here; add to them or make your own.

2. Inside each group, add categories for what the money is actually for: rent, power, and phone under Bills; groceries, gas, and fun under Everyday; savings, a trip, and an emergency fund under Goals. Give each a clear name, and start it with an emoji if you like (๐Ÿ›’ Groceries, ๐Ÿ  Rent) so the list is faster to read at a glance.

Then, give every dollar a purpose

3. Look at Unassigned at the top. It holds the total you brought together in View, waiting for a purpose. Assign money into a category by entering the amount it needs this month, and watch Unassigned drop by that much.

Vondo budget: an amount is typed into a category Assigned cell while Unassigned still shows the full total.

4. Keep going, category by category, until Unassigned reaches zero. Fund the bills first, then the everyday spending, then what you owe on a card, and send whatever is left to your goals. Covering the card before you pile money into savings is the whole point: money set aside there is already spoken for.

What you should see now

Unassigned is zero and turns green, and every category holds the amount you chose. Your whole total is accounted for, nothing is drifting, and you have a plan you decided rather than one that happened to you. If you assign more than you have, Unassigned goes red, telling you to pull some back before you overcommit.

You just did the O in VONDO

Next comes Notice, where you stay aware as the month spends the plan you just built.
