Why this move matters

Real receipts do not respect your category lines. Drop an $80 mixed trip into Groceries alone and two categories are now wrong: Groceries looks emptier than it is, and Household never records what it spent. Splitting keeps each category’s Available honest, which is the whole point of watching them.

Do it in Vondo

1. Open New Transaction on the Transactions screen and enter it as usual, the account, payee, and the full amount you actually spent.

2. Turn on splits with the Split toggle, then add a row for each category the purchase covers and the amount that goes to it. Use Add category for more rows, or Single category to collapse back.

3. Make the split amounts add up to the total. Vondo shows what is still unallocated or over, so you land exactly on the amount rather than guessing.

4. Save. Each category’s Available drops by its own share, not the whole amount.

What you should see now

The transaction records once against the account, but each category reflects only its part of it. Nothing is overstated, nothing is hidden, and the receipt that crossed two categories is told the truth in both.
