Why this move matters
Small errors slip in, a typo in an amount, a purchase never recorded, a duplicate. One wrong number quietly makes every total after it wrong too. Reconciling against a real statement is how you catch that drift and know the plan you are steering is built on real figures, not near-misses.
Do it in Vondo
1. As transactions clear your bank, mark them Cleared with the C toggle on each row of the Transactions screen (or an account’s own ledger). A cleared entry is one the bank has actually processed, not just one you recorded.

2. Open the account from the sidebar and choose Reconcile at the top, then enter the Statement Date and Statement Balance from your bank.
3. Vondo shows your Cleared Balance and the Difference between it and the statement. Tick entries until the Difference reaches zero, which means Vondo and the bank now agree to the cent.

4. Finish Reconciliation. The matched entries are locked as Reconciled, so the settled past stays settled.

What you should see now
The account matches the statement to the cent, and the reconciled entries are locked against accidental change. The past is trustable, so the present is too.
Locked is not frozen
A reconciled entry protects the three facts that make it a match, its account, its date, and its amount. You can still fix its payee, its category, or its memo, so a settled transaction that landed in the wrong category is never stuck there.
